HTC One M9 update features: Camera problems addressed by new maintenance update

The HTC One M9 hasn't exactly debuted problem-free but HTC may have finally come up with a suitable update to resolve them.

This has something to do with the device's main camera which has reportedly not been performing up to par. The problem is tied up with the auto exposure balance algorithm and images shot in extreme lighting conditions. The update, version 1.40.401.5, will reportedly address that issue and hopefully render better camera use.

But the update, which will be released incrementally in select territories before it reaches a global stage, is also set to improve the HTC One M9 in other aspects such as the battery life and address the heating issue connected with the Snapdragon 810 processor.

The update will reportedly improve battery performance, especially for folks who frequently use YouTube and Facebook.

As far as the processor is concerned, the update will offer the Smart charging thermal improvement so that the device remains cooler when users end find the need to recharge their phone.

It should be noted that these are only maintenance updates and that it will in no way have anything to do with the Android OS. The HTC One M9 is currently running on Android 5.0.2 and the company has yet to announce any Android bump to 5.1.

The OTA update is reportedly 526 MB in size and may be hitting unlocked models first. So for folks who have gotten a phone through leading carriers like Verizon Wireless, Sprint or T-Mobile, the said maintenance update could be a bit delayed.

As far as release is concerned, the said update was already released in Taiwan earlier. The Middle East, Africa and Europe are set to get theirs on June 10 while North America is scheduled to get it later this month.
