While Taiwanese OEM manufacturer HTC is getting set to take the wraps off its flagship smartphone in March, fresh news reveals that a variant of its upcoming HTC One M9 running Windows OS is going to be released in the U.S. alone.
Tipster @upleaks once again put the rumor mill in motion and claimed that the Windows-based device will be called HTC HimaW. And just like the HTC One for Windows, it will be distributed solely in the U.S. With a track record of releasing Windows-based handsets, there is a big chance that HTC will push ahead with this project, and the smartphone will most likely run with the Windows 10.
The Windows 10 mobile OS is a unified operating system that will work seamlessly on both desktops and smartphones alike. This will allow users to continue or complete the task they started on their PC or notebook on their Windows smartphones, and vice versa.
The official version of Windows 10 is bound for release this fall. Thus, consumers should not expect this particular Windows smartphone very soon. Although the popular HTC tipster did not reveal a specific release date, the device may enter the market later this year.
Windows 10 will support Snapdragon 810 SoC, which will most likely land in the handset. As for other specs of the Windows-based smartphone, it will reportedly have features similar to the original HTC One M9. The handset is said to come with a 5- to 5.5-inch screen display and quad HD pixel resolution, 3 GB of RAM, 20.7-megapixel camera and 13-megapixel front-facing camera or an Ultrapixel shooter.
HTC remains secretive of its plans, but its press event is going to be held on March 1, a day before the Mobile World Congress, so tech enthusiasts can expect full and official details then.
