It will still be a while before fans can see how things will unfold in the upcoming fifth season of the highly popular political drama television series, "House of Cards." Despite the new season's 2017 release date, rumors and speculations regarding the possible events that will transpire continue to make the rounds online.

The most prominent rumor as of the moment claims that Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) may finally experience a change of heart and once again fully support her husband Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his plans to stay in power.

There are contradicting reports; however, from fans who believe that Claire might be sticking to her own agenda and putting up her own show to hide her true intentions.

Aside from the continued drama between the high-profile political couple, there are also speculations of a brand new villain who will be introduced in the new season. A new rival to Frank's position would certainly be enough to get the estranged couple back together to combat a common enemy.

There are also reports that claim that Frank may be planning something dubious in order to eliminate all of his competition. The report states that Frank may be planning to murder those that continue to defy him and his plans, but it isn't clear yet on how he will be able to pull it off.

As of the moment, the show's creators and its producers still continue to keep mum about the events that they have planned for the next season. None of the predictions and rumors have of course been verified, so it would be safe to say that the predictions are as good as anyone's guess.

Netflix had renewed the show for a full fifth season back in January this year. "House of Cards" Season 5 is currently scheduled to premiere sometime in early 2017.
