The third season of the Netflix hit series "House of Cards" is scheduled to debut on Feb. 27 next year. However, fans still know little to nothing regarding its plotline. But with still a couple of months of waiting to bear, events succeeding Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) seizure of the highest power in the land are already being speculated about.
According to Den of Geek, as cited by Kpop Starz, the new president of the United States will display more insatiable thirst for power. But in the end, his ravenous ways may likely lead to his demise.
Furthermore, Spacey previously revealed that writer Beau Willimon and producer David Fincher have plans on exploring the depths of the story and harnessing the darkest point it has. Latin Times added that a patent reform story arch is to be expected, basing on Willimon's remarks cited in The Hill.
"[I] was like we're going to do a story on patent reform because I think patent reform is fascinating. I truly do," he said. "And I want the rest of America to think patent reform is fascinating."
Reports also suggest that Russia will be a major setting in the new season. Band activist Pussy Riot is said to appear on the show. Also, a "formidable" Russian is purported to go after the conniving politician and cause major conflict to the main man in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Kim Dickens and Jenna Stern have also been confirmed to join the ensemble.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Mahershala Ali (who plays the role of lobbyist Remy Danton) revealed the development of his character.
"I will say that this year is unique in that Remy has landed a really great job, but it's different than what we've seen before. It's not without complication," Ali stated. "He's in an emotional transition for most of the season, which is great because the character kind of deepens. He's more three dimensional and you learn more about his life outside of the work this season."
