After season 3, viewers of "House of Cards" are now asking what will become of artful politician Frank Underwood and the relationship of what was once considered a power couple.
Series creator Beau Willimon is not ready to drop spoilers for "House of Cards" season 4 just yet although he had time to illuminate fans on the direction the marriage of Claire and Frank is taking, which is deemed as the foundation and the "strength" of the previous season.
"What she really is troubled by is that they both have been lying to themselves, and thinking that they were equal partners. When in reality, there was only one chair there in the Oval Office," he explained during an interview with Huffington Post.
"And whatever she dreamed or presumed the First Ladyship to be is not what it ended up being, so she can no longer stomach the dynamic that they have," he went on to say, adding that fans will likely see in "House of Cards" what the two look like "when they are not working together."
Willimon recognizes that not all "House of Cards" viewers were swayed by the idea of the less politics-driven conflicts in the previous season but he is convinced that many of the fans always wanted to delve into the Claire-Frank dynamic just like him.
Meanwhile, Jeff Beal, who seemed to have taken so much pleasure doing the musical score for the Netflix hit, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he just recently got the script breakdown for the new season although he refused to reveal its "shape" and the "big picture."
"Now is about the time when I will start," he revealed. "I've been digesting it and will start to write some themes. That's fun because I can think purely musically about the story that we're going to tell, and I can think more expansively. I don't have to think."
"House of Cards" season 4 is set for release in spring next year.
