'Homeland' season 4 '13 Hours In Islamabad': A new character will come into Carrie's life

"Homeland" is adding another character in its fourth season, and she will appear anytime soon.  Yes, fans will finally meet Carrie Mathison's mom.

Last episode, the lives of Carrie (Claire Danes) and her former boss Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) were put in danger after a big explosion happened as they were conducting a prisoner exchange deal with the terrorists. The show ended with a cliffhanger, and viewers will have to wait until Dec. 7 to know if both of them survived the attacks. But fans know that Carrie wants to go home as soon as possible.  Will she find her mother waiting for her back in the United States?

Carrie's mom will be portrayed by Broadway actress Victoria Clark. Though the producers did not disclose the exact episode when the Tony Award-winning actress will appear on the hit U.S. political TV drama, they managed to share that she will have an important role in the life of her CIA officer daughter this season.

Clark is a multi-awarded stage actress who earned recognition for starring in the popular Broadway musical "The Light in the Piazza" by Craig Lucas. She also earned nominations for her other performances like the stage adaptation of "Sister Act," as well as the Los Angeles revival of the popular play "Follies." Clark's other notable performances include "The Snow Geese" as well as Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella."

Aside from her upcoming appearance in "Homeland," Clark will also be seen on Broadway once the much-awaited revival of "GIGI" opens, where she will work with Vanessa Hudgens.

There have been no mentions about Carrie's mother in the series, until now. Other family members like Carrie's sister Maggie (Amy Hargreaves) and father Frank (James Rebhorn) have made several appearances in previous seasons, but her mom was missing in action. How will her mom's presence affect Carrie's life?

"Homeland" season 4 will resume airing on Dec. 7 for the episode titled "13 Hours In Islamabad," which will show the embassy being placed in strict lockdown mode.
