'Heroes Reborn' spoilers: Tommy discovers his true destiny in episode 5 'The Lion's Den'

"Heroes Reborn" will be back on Oct. 15 with a global threat close to destroying mankind. The upcoming episode for the miniseries is called "The Lion's Den," a title that couldn't be more perfect in describing the danger the band of heroes is about to handle face to face.

The promo for the installment presents the power of this new menace. "Humanity is in the brink of extinction," the voiceover in the promo ominously announces. This is because "96 percent of all species on Earth wiped out."

In this "Heroes Reborn" episode, the world will feel the need for saving the most and it will turn to the Evos who have remarkable abilities. However, they are either afraid to use these extraordinary superpowers or have no idea how to control them.

In the teaser clip, it looks like Earth will have to rely on "a young hero's destiny." Among all the Evolved humans, Tommy seems to be the only one who hasn't attempted to give his super-abilities a shot but this could finally change.

"Why am I so important?" Tommy asks, looking frustrated about being shoved into a fate he does not even think is for him. He gets an answer that shakes him to his core, "You're going to help save the world."

When "Heroes Reborn" started, Tommy was introduced as an awkward young man whose dream is only to be looked at eye to eye by his dream girl. He was also seen possessing incredible power, which may have killed his already little chances to have that girl fall in love.

However, these abilities also show that he is destined for greatness and in the upcoming episode, he might finally respond to his true calling. This week's "Heroes Reborn" installment will also see Miko in trouble and Malina closer to the truth and Luke haunted by his past.

"Heroes Reborn" episode 5 "The Lion's Den" airs Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
