Hatchimals news update 2016: Toy still sold out; Black Friday supplies expected at Walmart, Target?

Hatchimals is the must-have toys for Christmas, but those who are thinking of picking them up just now might be late to the party as it is sold out.

As the holidays draw closer, the toys will be much harder to find, and the options at the moment is waiting until next year or buying the toys three to five times their original price.

However, Walmart is expected to have the Hatchimals in stock for Black Friday. Although the retailer is said to have sold out its stocks, it would appear that they have been putting aside supplies for the shopping bonanza.

According to DealNews, Walmart will have up for grabs a limited stock of the Hatchimals on Black Friday when it opens its doors on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m. local time.

However, Hatchimal hunters can opt to wait the night before for the Walmart deals featuring the Christmas toy to show up online. There, they will be offered for $48.88 (the retail price is $59.99).

Meanwhile, Target will reportedly have the toys on offer as well. However, the employees of the retailer are no longer allowed to say when the Hatchimals are being restocked.

The best chance, according to someone who works at the retailer, is heading to a Target outlet early in the morning, when the supplies are being put in shelves. That way, buyers will be sure to get one.

Meanwhile, Smyths and Toys R Us have Hatchimal shipments coming in the coming weeks. The former's deliveries are estimated to arrive from Nov. 24 to Dec. 2, and the retailer is prioritizing those who pre-ordered.

As for the latter, there will be new stock as well, but there is no telling which branches will get them or when.

Missing these golden opportunities will likely force buyers to either go the expensive route, which is purchasing from resellers who sell them for hundreds of dollars or waiting until next year.

Hatchimals maker Spin Master has confirmed that the demand this year is greater than they anticipated, so they could only put out the toys by next year, but they are making sure they are ramping up the production.

Since the Hatchimals will be in high demand as the Christmas season progresses, it will difficult to get a hold one, but if the above-mentioned options have been exhausted, it looks like buyers will be forced to wait.

"The consumer response to Hatchimals has been extraordinary, exceeding all expectations. Some of our first shipments have already sold out. While additional product will hit retail shelves in November, we anticipate this inventory will also sell out quickly. We have increased production and a whole new batch of Hatchimals will be ready to hatch in early 2017," Spin Master said in a statement.
