There are rumors going around that "Pokémon GO" developer Niantic Labs will be releasing "Harry Potter Go," which will employ the same mechanics of the augmented reality game.

A report by JTHX News claims that Niantic has agreed to make the game because of the support behind it. While it is true that "Harry Potter" fans would like to see the game in the flesh, the report about its development was proved to be fake.

Gizmodo says that Marcus Figueroa, the man supposed to be working at Niantic that was quoted by the site is nonexistent, and the IGN interview mentioned was faked as well.

JTHX News appears to be a site creating and distributing fake news in the name of traffic just by looking at the headlines and the presentation of the website itself, as Gizmodo points out.

Although "Harry Potter Go" is not happening, fans of the franchise are hoping to see one in the future. An online petition for it has already garnered more than 61,000 signatures.

The idea is for players to be able to use in real life the spells as the ones used in the books and films. Ashtyn Hannon, who started the petition, says that "The possibilities are endless."

"Accio Firebolt! And have a wizard duel with your friends, expelliarmus could disable their app for a few seconds! Who is your second?" she said.

"Harry Potter Go" can also give fans the experience of searching for magical creatures such as hippogriffs, dragons, and goblin among others.

This is inspired by the work of "Harry Potter" character Newt Scamander, the lead character played b Eddie Redmayne in the spinoff, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Hannon also imagines "Harry Potter Go" to allow players to search and destroy the seven Horcruxes, which are important in the books and movies.

More fans continue to join the campaign by affixing their signatures, although there is no word from Niantic about the possibilities of the game ever seeing the light of day.
