'Hannibal' season 3 spoilers: new trailer shows Francis Dolarhyde and Bedelia in the dark

Hannibal NBC

"Hannibal" season 3 is only days away from its premiere so TV network NBC made sure to serve up a platter of tasty trailers to give fans an idea of what the sadistic murderer will do next. Days ago, viewers saw Bedelia and Hannibal running off to Italy to live a new life as husband and wife, or so it seems.

The pair is doing their best impression of a loving couple in the foreign land although Hannibal's murderous ways are still intact. In the new footage, an atrocious slaughter is taking place. For the doctor, it's leisure pursuit. For his assistant, it's a test of how much darkness she can let inside her.

"Bedelia, for the first time, is party to it," actress Gillian Anderson, who plays Bedelia, says in the same video. "She could be as dark as Hannibal, but you don't know."

In the first trailer, her character seems to be taken by Hannibal during their absconding.

Actor Mads Mikkelsen, who plays the doctor, reveals that Bedelia "has a curiosity for the dark side of the world that she cannot run away from" and this is what Hannibal seems to be exploring and encouraging in the video.

The footage for "Hannibal" season 3 also lets fans have a first look at Francis Dolarhyde portrayed by "The Hobbit" actor Richard Armitage. The character's signature intimidating inks are shown off, looking much like his "Red Dragon" counterpart.

"I didn't know about him until I received the information from everyone else, who gasped and said, 'Oh, you're playing the Red Dragon', and I sort of said, 'I don't really know what it means'," Armitage said. "And then I went in search of the book and found out what it really meant."

Francis Dolarhyde will be the focus of the second half of "Hannibal" season 3. His inclusion in the show guarantees that things are going to get even more messed up. Hugh Dancy, who plays Will, simply said that "it's a completely new Hannibal." Caroline Dhavernas, who plays Alana, said "everything is possible" in the new season and that season 3 is a "blank slate."

"Hannibal" season 3 will premiere on June 4.
