As Bedelia and Hannibal explore their relationship as a sham married couple in Italy, Will, now fine and in form, sets out to hunt the doctor in the second episode of "Hannibal" season 3 titled "Primavera."
It took Will eight long months to recuperate and during the grueling healing process, all he could ever think of was finding the man that gave him a taste of death and put him to the hospital bed. However, the synopsis for the episode suggests that the pursuit may not be driven by vendetta.
Will's search leads him to Palermo, Italy, where he is welcomed with a "disturbing gift" and the suspicions of Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi, who later enlists his help to catch Hannibal who the inspector believes is the Florentine killer Il Mostro from 20 years ago.
However, this episode reveals that Will himself does not know whether or not he wants the doctor brought to justice. As the synopsis reads, Will is still "unsure of where his own allegiance lies" and he makes sure Pazzi knows this before they work together on finding Hannibal.
Something to look forward to is that the episode may stage the inspector's demise. In Thomas Harris' novel "Hannibal," the murderous doctor is one step ahead of Pazzi and, in turn, he becomes his newest victim. It remains to be seen if Pazzi's small screen counterpart will share the same fate.
Meanwhile, Will was thoroughly missed in the premiere episode of the season and fans weren't the least bit happy about his absence. However, executive producer Bryan Fuller has a reason behind bringing the character in the second episode of the season.
"We left the finale in season 2 in Hannibal's shoes. I wanted to make sure that we're picking up and telling Hannibal's story, and focusing on he and Bedelia's relationship," Fuller told Zap2it. "I want the audience to feel the yearning for Will Graham that Hannibal feels."
"Hannibal" season 3 episode 2 "Primavera" will air on June 11.
