With the release date of Microsoft and 343 Industries' "Halo 5: Guardians" fast approaching, the publisher and developer are hyping up the upcoming continuation of main protagonist Master Chief's story.

Last week, Microsoft showcased a live-action trailer for "Halo 5: Guardians," where it was announced that the main protagonist of the series, Spartan John-117 a.k.a Master Chief, died in the line of duty on Oct. 27, 2560.

Neowin surmised that the trailer may not have sat well with some fans as Microsoft announced that another trailer for the Xbox One-exclusive title will be released, explaining Master Chief's death.

The new trailer was supposed to be released this Sunday night, on the show "Fear The Walking Dead." However, some enterprising fans have already leaked the new trailer online.

According to a tweet by community member NoWise10, he found the new trailer on his Xbox One dashboard and posted it online. The original video has already been taken down, but others who may have seen the video on their own dashboards have posted other copies. The new video debunks the previous announcement that Master Chief is dead and shows that it was just a cover-up by ONI. The new footage also shows Master Chief and his fire team being targeted by a new squad spearheaded by Spartan Locke, a new additional character for the series.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is shaping up to be another intricate story in the "Halo" franchise. Not only will the story campaign take players into an immersive and complex experience, but the story itself will have players engaged for hours. According to industry observer GamesRadar, "Halo 5: Guardians" will apparently offer up to 15 hours' worth of single campaign mode, almost double that of its predecessor, "Halo 4."

"Halo 5: Guardians" will roll out for the Xbox One on Oct. 27.
