Half Life 3 release update: After ten years, will game sequel be launched?

It has been almost 10 years since we last heard of Half-Life but we may be seeing a third installment soon if there is any confirmation headed our way soon.

Related to the Left 4 Dead article interview, Minhe Le revealed its potential coming and bared that development for Half-Life 3 is indeed in the works.

"… I think it's kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on," Le said "So if I were to say I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news. But I guess I could say that I did see something that looked like kind of like in the Half-Life universe. It wouldn't surprise anyone if I said 'Yeah, they're working on it.' … I would say yeah, I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3 " he says during in another portion of that interview with goRGNtv.

Similar to Left 4 Dead, Half-Life is a game that is played on a first-person shooter point of view. Half-Life 3 was rumored to be set for an appearance during the E3 convention but sadly it never happened.

As for speculations, here is a broad explanation on why Half Life 3 hasn't succeeded previous versions of the game. Valve founder Gabe Newell explains why the game never really got off the ground in this excerpt of his interview with the Washington Post:

"When we started out we were a single-player video game company that could have been really successful just doing Half-Life sequel after Half-Life sequel, but we collectively said let's try to make multi-player games even though there's never been a commercial successful multi-player game.

They were like 'that's what you want to do with your time, that's fine, but we're going to spend our time working on Half-Life 2. We think you're kind of wasting your time, but it's your time to waste."

While both claims contradict each other it may be best to take it from the founder's words himself. Apparently it all boiled down to internal issues that eventually lead to the discontinuance of the game that rocket the world back in 2008 and 2009.

Despite high hopes that Half Life 3 would eventually come out, even if it has already been 10 years, it looks like the game is not coming out any time soon. It may come but not in the near future.

So what about Le's claim? Well it could be part of another game. Better yet, it may be part of the Left 4 Dead development which seems to be not that different from Half Life 3 wouldn't you agree?
