Half Life 3 release date: New logo ignites talk of new game launch

 Wikipedia

There is no official word yet on when Valve's Half Life 3 would be coming out though a new (and strange?) logo spotted at the Steam website has spurred a lot of speculation.

The logo shows off an update version of the patented Half Life logo bearing a message "Half Life 3 confirmed".

But if we take into consideration the various reports surrounding the much anticipated coming of the popular game, it seems that Valve is nowhere near it yet. In fact, Valve's Gabe Newell says that its release will highly depend on the production team. He also adds that the only reason that the game is being revived is because people inside Valve wanted to do it.

As far as the logo is concerned, Kotaku speculates that the new logo (curiously lacking the official logo) could be a result of hacking. When the logo appeared, the page (when clicked) redirects people to a Twitter Nigerian account. The site has been restored after that logo appearance.

In a related development, folks who are awaiting for the game to appear at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 3 may want to lower their expectations a bit since the company may not be that active at the said event.

If so, this could mean that if Half Life 3 does hit the market, it will be through their own distribution channel and possibly small events. Both have yet to be given a specific date.

It has been 20 years since the last Half Life game, a first-shooter game from Valve. The last sighting of the game came in 2007 and up to this day, gamers are still glued to the game and are hoping for a new one which may (or may not come) if we are to take the words of Valve boss Newell.

Some of the fan theories have pointed out the positive side of Newell's announcement saying that, "It's not officially cancelled, it's not officially announced. I believe it will arrive someday. But it's mostly speculation," through a report by Youth Health Mag.
