Fans can definitely expect a lot in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" not just because the first one was a massive hit, but because director James Gunn himself is proud of the film.

In a recent Q&A with fans on Facebook, the filmmaker was asked when he will be back to do original movies again as opposed to adaptations like the Chris Pratt-led franchise.

"I believe [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2] is bigger and ballsier and more 'me' than anything I've ever done," Gunn said in reply.

In another Q&A session, he admitted that meeting fan expectations was the biggest hurdle to overcome in working in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The success of the first film (and a confirmed third installment) definitely shows Gunn's got that covered, but this feat certainly increased the expectations for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

The director also said that his freedom in helming the sequel is "more than ever" compared to when he was working on Troma.

Kurt Russell, who will play the role of Star-Lord's (Pratt) father, Ego the Living Planet, in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" also vouches for the film, assuring to ComingSoon.net that the sequel is "going to be good."

"James Gunn really is on top of it. Chris Pratt's cool. The whole cast and crew, they're just all really nice. And I was really excited when I read this character as an opportunity to play someone that I think is... you know... Ego the Living Planet. I mean, it might be one of the best names of a character that I ever got a shot at," he went on to say.

Going back to the Q&A, Gunn also said that a "Guardians of the Galaxy" spin-off or television series could "maybe" happen. However, fans should be warned not to jump to conclusions as nothing more about this has been said.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2017.
