Even though the "Green Lantern" movie is lightyears away, there's been tons of talk about who will play the role of the superhero. Two names come up at the top: Tyrese Gibson and Bradley Cooper.
It seems as if Gibson took a hint from what Vin Diesel did to land a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it was a role that didn't require him to perform action stunts, lending his voice for Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy" made fans adore him all the same.
Back then, Diesel took to social media to air his interest in joining MCU, sparking rumors that he was already being cast by Marvel at that time. Now, Gibson or the team behind him is using Instagram to share a photo of Gibson wearing the Green Lantern costume.
The most recent artwork was captioned: "This guy just won't stop...... Wow.... @bosslogix got me fired up!!!!!! #GreenLanternMission #BlackSuperHeroMission 20|20 "I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure"
The photos are surely making the rounds now. For one, it got 23,000 shares and still growing. And second, it shows how interested Gibson is with the role. It is just uncertain if DC and Warner Bros. will take the bait like what Marvel did with Diesel.
Anyway, Screen Rant pointed out that although the art looks great, Gibson may be better off playing John Steward instead of Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan is the original Green Lantern, the same role played by Ryan Reynolds in the "Green Lantern" movie. John Stewart, on the other hand, is who most fans are familiar with, particularly in the "Justice League" cartoon from WB.
Elsewhere, another big name is being considered for the role in the "Green Lantern" reboot and it is none other than Bradley Cooper. According to Forbes, Cooper tops the list of who should play the superhero next. But of course, Cooper will be expected to play Hal Jordan than John Stewart.
According to Collider, Cooper already auditioned for the role back in 2009, only for Reynolds to land the role. However, the main contention now is Cooper's age. Since he is 40 years old already, it would be perfect for him to do the role now. But since the movie will be released five years from now, that means he will be 45 then and might look too old for the part. Then again, "Justice League" Part 1 and Part 2 are set for release on 2017 and 2019 respectively, Cooper could be part of that.
"Green Lantern" is set for release on June 19, 2020.
