GoPro Hero 5 release date, specs rumors: Hi-def camcorder out in 2016

Folks who have been eagerly awaiting the release of the GoPro Hero 5 may have to wait a little bit longer after the company reportedly moved the release date of the high-definition sports camcorder to 2016.

Apparently, the delay has been caused by some major device upgrades needed to make sure that the new features the GoPro Hero 5 will be carrying will fall in line with GoPro Inc.'s claim of having the most powerful videographic equipment in the class of camcorders.

Aside from that, the company may also be taking into consideration the proper timing for the GoPro Hero 5 to come out. It has been barely a year since the GoPro 4 invaded the market, so unleashing the GoPro Hero 5 now could somehow dampen the demand for its predecessor.

Another possible reason is the pricing of the GoPro Hero 5. Though it remains unofficial, word is out that the upcoming device will most likely carry a price ranging from $400 to $500, which is quite a sum for a camcorder by all means.

Compared with alternative action cameras, the GoPro Hero 5 could draw criticism, and the company wants to make sure that the device will be truly worth its price through advanced and tested features that come with it.

Among the rumored features that the upcoming GoPro Hero 5 will offer include an 8K video resolution and suited battery that will account for longer video recording.

Other mentioned features from the grapevine include that of a dual-lens camera said to be made for 3D video recording, improved waterproofing and touch screen features.

The camera can reportedly be used in water up to 60 meters deep while the recording rate will be at 60 fps.

With the camcorder, users will be able to stream photos via WiFi. An HDMI port will also be present and powered using a Bluetooth 4.0 module.
