Nexus 6 vs LG G3 specs comparison: Plastic vs metal

The LG G3 is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones of this year. In the advent of the Google Nexus 6 just last month, however, the LG handset was challenged and it may be that the LG G3 found a big rival in the Nexus 6. But which of these heavyweights will emerge when put side by side?

In terms of looks, they approach design differently. While both have metal edges, the LG G3 is encrusted with smooth and sleek aluminum-brushed metallic skin. The Google device sports a plastic exterior. The LG G3 goes for more of a smooth look by housing its features in an 8.9-inch unibody. The Nexus 6 is a bit bulky with its 10.1-inch thick body. It also has the bigger screen, a 5.96-inch AMOLED display that renders a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and a 493 ppi pixel density. The LG G3 comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, which shares the same resolution with its rival. But with its 534 ppi pixel density, crisp and sharp visuals are promised in the LG smartphone.

The Nexus 6 retaliates with a more powerful package found under its hood. Its rival sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked in at 2.5 GHz. There comes a 2 GB RAM with its 32 GB storage capacity but the RAM goes up to 3 GB when the memory is bumped up to 64 GB. On the other hand, a 2.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor powers up the Nexus 6. Users can get 3 GB RAM to go with either the 32 GB model or the 64 GB variant.

Camera-wise, the two are tied. Both have 13-megapixel rear-facing shooters, which allow users to capture videos in 2160 pixels at 30 frames per second. LG G3 sports a 2.1-megapixel front camera, which, as per GSM Arena, can shoot clips in 1080 pixels the same frame rate as its back camera. The Nexus 6 houses a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Battery life does not send them poles apart either. The 3000 mAh battery of the G3 allows up to 21 hours of talk time. The Nexus 6 is expected to outlast this, as it is advertised to last for a whole day. Both the handsets can juice up wirelessly.

For those who were impressed with what Google Nexus 6 brings to the table, a $617 price tag comes along with it. The LG G3 is more pocket-friendly as it can be purchased for only $371 — almost half its rival's price.
