The 2015 Gold Cup will kick off this coming Tuesday (July 7) where 12 countries will slug it out for the CONCACAF title.

The event will be hosted in the United States and Canada where a trip to the 2017 Confederations Cup is also on the line.

All eyes will be on the United States who are looking to win their second consecutive Gold Cup. Another title romp by team USA will allow them to direction qualify to the Confed Cup in Russia.

There will be three groups comprised of four teams. Each group will play a single-round robin where the top two teams from each bracket will advance to the next round (quarterfinals). The two top third place teams will also advance to the next round to complete an even eight-team cast.

The USA, Costa Rica and Mexico are the top seeded teams for their respective groups and all of them are heavily favored to come out and move on to the next round.

Team USA is bunched up with Honduras, Panaman and Haiti and are heavy favorites for Group A.

Group B will be composed of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Jamaica and Canada while composing Group C are Mexico, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba.

In the event that the United States sputters and fails to win the title this year, a playoff will be held later in the year to determine which team will be the CONCACAF representative.

The USA gave a glimpse of things to come during a recent tuneup game against Guatemala. The team blanked Guatemala 4-0 courtesy of goals from DeAndre Yedlin, Timmy Chandler, Clint Dempsey and Chris Wondolowski.

The United States kicks off its campaign this coming Tuesday against Honduras at 8:00 p.m. ET in Frisco and will be covered via television by ESPN. The USA vs. Honduras tiff can also be seen via live stream here.
