As the third season of "Girl Meets World" continues, reports about the "Boy Meets World" spinoff not making it to season 4 came flooding the web.
"Girl Meets World" season 3 is now in its third month and had just aired its thirteenth episode, which means that it is officially on the latter half of the season.
Filming for the current season has already ended, but Disney Channel is yet to give the nod to "Girl Meets World" season 4. The network usually gives the green light to the series even though a season has not ended yet.
This is true for the previous runs of the spinoff. It took six months for Disney to renew the show for a third season, so fans may simply have to be patient as a "Girl Meets World" season 4 renewal could be on its way.
A representative of the company, however, stated that, as of July, there are no active discussions about "Girl Meets World" season 4.
The current season will air up to next year, and this is what the Disney representative emphasized in a statement to TV Line. "With episodes airing on Disney Channel into 2017, there's no news to share yet about a fourth season," the rep said.
This could simply mean that it might be too early to think about "Girl Meets World" season 4, seeing that there are more episodes that will keep fans satiated up to next year.
Despite this, a fan has started an online petition asking Disney to renew the show. Petitioner Ashley Carter described the spinoff as "the best show" on the network. At the time of writing, almost 16,000 fans have signed.
Shows on Disney are known to last for four seasons, which is one confidence booster for some fans. However, even lead star Rowan Blanchard has no update about "Girl Meets World" season 4, which makes fans worried.
"I know as much as you do," Blanchard revealed to She Knows. "We are hoping for a season 4, obviously, because we want to continue our story, and I feel like it's an important story to tell," she went on to say.
For now, fans will have to make the most of "Girl Meets World" season 3, with episode 14, "Girl Meets She Don't Like Me," airing on Friday, Sept. 26.
