'Girl Meets World' season 4 renewal updates: Season premiere may be delayed if it's renewed

A renewal for "Girl Meets World" season 4 is yet to arrive as the show's fate on Disney Channel remains in limbo, but should a new season become official, it might be a while before fans get to see Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and company again.

Looking at the show's history, it would appear that filming for new seasons begin at least two months after the renewal was announced. What will follow is the filming process, which can last about six months.

If "Girl Meets World" season 4 will be announced this year, fans could be looking at a June 2017 premiere for the new season, which is actually the same month season 3 launched this year.

However, if Disney will let the year end without a word about "Girl Meets World" season 4, the series — if it will be renewed — will return at a much later date, presumably during the second half of next year.

It is interesting to note that the recent "Girl Meets World" season 3 episodes did not air week after week, and "Girl Meets Hollyworld" won't air until Nov. 18, two weeks after the previous episode.

This is expected to be the same in the remaining four installments, with Disney stretching the season up to around February or March, which is why the network deemed it too early to talk about "Girl Meets World" season 4, reasoning that there are episodes set to air next year.

Disney is yet to give its nod on a new season, but fans can hold out hope knowing that the renewal announcement for "Girl Meets World" season 3 did not happen until November last year.

At the moment, Blanchard and co-star Sabrina Carpenter are busy with their respective projects. The former just scored a gig in the upcoming film, "A Wrinkle in Time" while the latter just kicked off her "EVOlution" tour to promote her new album of the same name.
