Most, if not, all of the teams in Major League Baseball have been clamoring to acquire the talents of Giancarlo Stanton recently. Now, it appears that the negotiations have been increasingly intensifying. It has been recently reported that the 2017 National League Most Valuable Award winner is locking his eyes on the San Francisco Giants. However, at the end of the day, money talks. So, what are the possible teams Stanton could be a part of next?
In a report by MLB, the Giants initially gave their offer to the Miami Marlins to acquire Stanton's services, along with the St. Louis Cardinals. However, at this point, it is safe to assume that more from other teams will be making similar offers very soon. Some of these teams could be the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is no doubt that teams are going to be bending over backwards to get Stanton – if they are not already.
As previously mentioned, the Giants are the heavily favored team this early in the negotiations. Bleacher Report has stated that the details of the talks right now between the Giants and the Marlins involve Stanton, as well as Dee Gordon moving to the Giants for the Marlins' Joe Panik, minor league pitcher Tyler Beede, and minor league outfielder Chris Shaw.
Despite being an immense talent in the game, there are still concerns about Stanton's tremendous salary. According to SB Nation, whichever team acquires Stanton will have to suffer a sizable luxury tax due to his salary. The Giants currently do not have much room in their salary cap to accommodate Stanton, but with a few strategic moves, they might just be able to do so.
The Cardinals, however, have a lot of room in their cap to acquire Stanton. At this point, it is entirely up to Stanton to choose which team he would want to play for in the years to come.
