George Verwer and Rend Collective Experiment confirmed for Europe mission conference

Thousands of young Christians from across Europe are expected to join the conference when it takes place in Erfurt, Germany, over the New Year.

The conference is aimed at 16 to 30-year-olds and will explore what it means to live a missional lifestyle.

People from around 60 different nations are expected to take part in the conference, which will be held in English with translation into 15 languages during the main plenary sessions.

The World News Band from the Netherlands will lead multicultural worship during the week, while the Rend Collective Experiment and Croatian ska band October Light will perform in a New Year’s Eve concert.

The bi-annual conference is held within the wider context of a growing movement of young European Christians and is supported by the European Evangelical Missionary Alliance and the European Evangelical Alliance.

Organisers are encouraging entire youth groups to register for the conference and to bring their pastors too.

“Mission-Net is church-orientated,” said Evi Rodemann, Mission-Net director.

“We want to take time to re-think church in the context of mission and a missional lifestyle, and if you attend Mission-Net alone, it will be harder to apply what you have learnt back home.”

A Global Market bringing together dozens of mission agencies, Christian educational institutions and charities will also be at the conference to help participants think about their place in God’s world.

Michel Walter, exhibition manager, said: “The variety of organisations registered for the Global Market reflects the many possibilities of personal Christian engagement in this world.

“The Global Market will broaden your horizon, and yes, even lead to a missional lifestyle, if you are willing to hear God’s call.”

A prayer walk in the steps of Luther and different kinds of outreach are being planned for the week in addition to main programme.

Sandra Schwab, Mission-Net director of programme, said: “We encourage you to learn one new sentence in German, come into the presence of God, and of course move one step closer to the life God has prepared for you.”

Mission-Net takes place in Erfurt, Germany, from December 28, 2011, to January 2, 2012.
