'Game of Thrones' season 6 air date, spoilers: Dany's dragons to 'double in size'

Season 5 of "Game of Thrones" is about to come to a close, but the crew of the hit HBO series is not wasting any time and is already working on season 6. As it is, it looks like the creative team is already facing several big challenges, one of which is how to present the dragons next season.

Fans are undoubtedly expecting to see more of the magical creatures, especially after the awe-inspiring moment depicting Drogon's dramatic rescue of Dany. And if Yahoo!'s interview with visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer and prosthetics supervisor Barrie Gower is any indication, then Dany's dearly loved dragons will be stars in the upcoming season.

"The dragons will again be double in size," Bauer said, adding that it is more of Gower's department's challenge to pull that off rather than his.

He revealed that it was a lot easier on the set when they worked on the dragons when they were smaller.

"When the dragons were small, we had little foam rubber models of each dragon and we could carry them on and off of the set and it was no big deal. Last year, the best we could do was a head and this year it's going to be a finger nail or something, I'm not really sure," he went on to say.

As for Gower, he said he has his "fingers crossed they won't chicken out" about the new creative challenges coming their way in season 6.

Meanwhile, it looks like the cast and crew are going back to work soon with reports that new breathtaking scenes will be filmed in Croatia.

"Locations for season 6 and seasons beyond are still being scouted, and incentive applications will follow naturally from those decisions when they're made," a spokesperson from HBO told The Hollywood Reporter. "The Croatian [Audiovisual Center] HAVC have always been and continue to be incredibly supportive of our work there, and we're most grateful."

The premiere date of "Game of Thrones" season 6 has yet to be determined but is likely to air in April 2016, accordingly to previous release dates of new seasons.
