'Frozen 2' plot rumors: Did the script leak already? Disney is gunning for excellence

Characters from the Disney film "Frozen"

The world rejoices as Disney confirmed that "Frozen 2" has already been green lit. After months of speculations and unrest from fans, the truth is out: Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff will all return for the "Frozen" sequel.

"Frozen" was released in November 2013 and it was a massive global hit. Disney earned close to $1.3 billion at the global box office, and the earnings from the merchandise weren't even included. "Frozen" was a phenomenon that swept the world off its feet, even a year after its release. Most, if not all, will agree that Disney made the right decision in moving forward with a follow-up film, a decision that has certainly put a smile on everyone's face.

Aside from the fans, the cast and crew behind the movie are ecstatic, too.

Director Jennifer Lee tweeted, "At last, I can say - FROZEN 2!!!! I'm beyond excited to create alongside my Frozen family!"

Lee and Chris Buck will again sit in the director's chair for the sequel.

Kristen Bell, the voice actress for Anna, is very happy about the news as well, expressing her excitement via Twitter: "Dreams really do come 2!!! #FROZEN2 #itsofficial."

Elsewhere, Olaf's voice actor Josh Gad posted an Instagram photo together with Walt Disney's Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter, both of them smiling happily. It was captioned: "Backstage with #JohnLasseter after announcing #Frozen2. As you can see we are not mildly excited."

Meanwhile, details about "Frozen 2" has not been announced yet, but Mashable has released a so-called leaked script for the movie. At first glance, it looks real, but once read, it is humorous and comedic. It is safe to say that this script isn't real at all.

As for the release date of the film, the rumored target is 2018. While that may be three years away from today, that's because Disney is making sure that everything's going to be perfect.

Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke to Fortune back in Janary 2014 when he was presented with the possibility of a sequel. Back then, Iger said, "We're not demanding speed, we're demanding excellence," and this line undoubtedly still applies today.
