'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' revival news: Will Smith would agree to play Uncle Phil

Given all the revivals that has been going on, from "Full House," to "The Office," American actor, Will Smith, has been asked about a possible revival for the 90's hit sit-com "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Many fans and people from the media have been constantly asking and wondering if a revival is at all possible, and Smith stated that he is not too keen on working on it, as of now. However, he stated that if it does happen, he would want to play Uncle Phil.

Smith pointed out during his interview at the "Graham Norton Show" that he is now 50-years-old, and that if he were to do a revival of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," his role should match his current age. This is why he stated that he would want to play the adorable and well-loved Uncle Phil. Smith even admitted to the fact that he is unable to watch old episodes, despite the success of the show and its perpetual relevance in today's television.

The British talk show host responded to Smith's statements positively, stating that he would love to see a revival wherein Smith plays Uncle Phil, a role that used to belong to the late James Avery. Norton then directed the attention of the audience to a picture of Smith doing some bungee jumping and stated that Smith has some resemblance to the late actor — to which the audience laughed hysterically.

Smith's unwillingness to reprise his role in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" does not mean that he has estranged himself from his former co-stars. In fact, photos of the cast's reunion were also featured on the "Graham Norton Show," showing Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell and Daphne Reid, along with Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro. What is unclear at this point is not whether a revival will take place in the near future, but if Smith is actually willing to participate as an actor.

Back in August, TV Line reported that the revival for the 90's sit-com is definitely in the works, with Smith as a producer. Then, the developments were described to be in the "early stages," with no recent reports on a possible release date and no hints of which cast members will be returning.
