Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight preview: Floyd has to put on a show €“ Thomas Hearns

Thomas Hearns knows what it takes to put on a show and his epic matches with Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard is a testament to that.

Knowns as the Hitman, Hearns is best known for being the first boxer to win world titles in four divisions. And he did all that with risks involved, not running.

By running is of course in reference to what many believe Floyd Mayweather Jr. may do when he faces off against Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather is best known to be a defensive tactician in the ring but for Hearns, he needs to add some offensives and take risks. According to Hearns, people will be offended if he opts to play it safe throughout the match.

Hearns is speaking from experience. While he could have opted for the safer route, Hearns took risks. He did it against Hagler, Duran and Leonard, making sure that the fans got their money's worth.

Pacquiao, called reckless by Mayweather, may not have a problem of putting up a show. He has proven that before, taking risks which at one time proved to be costly. It remains to be seen though if Pacquiao will do the same as that haunting past of his KO loss to Juan Manuel Marquez is still up in the air.

For Mayweather, it all remains to be seen. Mayweather promoter, Leonard Elbe, claims that Floyd will try to take Pacquiao's head off but not all people are 100% sure if those claims are true.

The only thing that could be sure is that this fight will go the distance. It will not be similar to Hearn's short round work where one will be outboxed or knocked out.

The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is expected to be a battle of wits. A knockout is not totally discounted but certainly not expected for this one.
