Floyd Mayweather- Manny Pacquiao fight news: Floyd training with Rocky technique

Just a few days ago, we did mention that Manny Pacquiao and his camp have been keeping their training methods behind closed doors so that the Filipino fighter can remain focused. As far as Floyd Mayweather Jr. is concerned, it is the exact opposite.

This is not to say that the undefeated American boxer is dilly-dallying though. Mayweather simply doesn't mind the attention heading to their dream match set on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Aside from the reported hiring of southpaw fighters to help Floyd adjust to Pacquiao left-handed boxing style, the latest is a video showing his apparent new training method – chopping wood.

Apparently the video brings to mind scenes from the movie Rocky IV which starred Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren. In that film, Rocky Balboa underwent training in Russia and chopping wood was one of the training methods he used to prep himself against Ivan Drago.

Why wood chopping?

Chopping wood is a technique used by most boxers since it builds strength and explosiveness. So does this mean that Mayweather is looking to knock out Pacquiao? Possibly.

Most critics believe that the Mayweather-Pacquiao match will eventually be decided via decision. Predicting a knockout is certainly not something many are expecting.

That was until Mayweather showed off his wood-chopping training which could hint that the undefeated Mayweather is looking to knock out Pacquiao on May 2.

On the other hand, promoter Bob Arum believes that knockouts don't come from strength alone. Rather, he believes that it is all about positioning and timing, something that Pacquiao's camp may be doing right now.

Hence after initially believing that the May 2 fight would be a boring cat-and-mouse game, such may not be the case.

That is of course if either fighter finds the opportunity to go for the kill, something that fans and viewers will surely want to see.
