'The Flash' season 2 spoilers: A 'really cool big bad' is on the way in new episodes

The Flash CW

Season 1 of "The Flash" was undoubtedly an explosive one and simply a stellar way of bringing the fastest man alive to the small screen. The DC Comics-inspired series immediately netted a big fanbase and it ultimately catapulted actor Grant Gustin, who plays the role of the Scarlet Speedster, to new heights.

Gustin graced the recently concluded 41st Annual Saturn Awards conducted by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films where he received an award for his "Breakthrough Performance" in the series. In the event, Gustin had to drop some spoilers for "The Flash" season 2.

"We're introducing a really cool big bad that's going to be revealed kind of immediately," Gustin revealed during the affair.

He did not give further details as to who this new mystery villain will be but surely, it won't take long for the series to introduce them. "The Flash," after all, is notorious for fast-paced storytelling, with so many major arcs already played out in its freshman run. This might just be the reason the show, which already spawned a spin-off, was a sensation.

Speaking of the spinoff, Gustin also revealed that he will be involved with the motley crew of crime-fighting heroes and villains in "Legends of Tomorrow." He even went so far as to reveal that his character will be there even at the beginning of the newfound warfare.

"I'm going to be a part of that right out of the gates as well," the actor said, but unfortunately, he didn't have much to spoil about the upcoming show.

"So I don't really know what to expect from that show yet, I don't think anybody does, but I'm excited to be a part of it. I get to be Flash on three TV shows. I was unemployed a year-and-a-half ago, so that's pretty cool," he continued.

The last time fans saw Barry Allen, he was on his way to stop a wormhole from gobbling up Central City into nothingness.

"The Flash" season 2 will introduce more speedsters, multiverses and villains when it premieres on Oct. 6.
