'The Flash' season 2 spoilers: Firestorm's powers could be explored

Robbie Amell, better known to "The Flash" aficionados as Ronnie, the combustible half of Firestorm, recently dished oodles of spoiler-y details about his character and gave fans a preview of what the future holds for the powerful superhero.

The "Duff" actor dropped by Screen Rant to talk about the slew of abilities Firestorm has that viewers have yet to see. He shared to the site that the season finale of The CW hit originally wanted to explore the vast powers of the hot-headed superhero but didn't push through.

"There's a scene where Danielle [Panabaker]'s character is checking my temperature and giving me the once-over. I call Victor in the room and we merge, and I turn her thermometer into a daffodil," the actor told the aforementioned website. "It was just like a really nice, sweet way of showing... because she's asking if we're going to be OK, and I'm like, 'Actually, we're getting pretty good at this whole Firestorm thing.' And we merge without even missing a beat and turn that into a flower."

Amell said that although it was "a nice moment," it didn't make it to the action-packed season finale because "it didn't hold any bearing on the plot." He hopes, though, that this "matter manipulation" thing will be explored more in "The Flash" season 2.

"There's so much they can do with this character. My biggest fear with the character was that he was too powerful. I think that sometimes that can be an issue," he said.

It still remains to be seen what the series has prepared for Amell and his character. Victor Garber, who plays Dr. Martin Stein a.k.a. Firestorm's other half, will be starring in the "Arrow/ The Flash" spinoff "Legends of Tomorrow" but Amell wasn't confirmed to join him.

Melty surmises that "The Flash" season 2 will figure out a way for Stein and Ronnie to summon and become Firestorm without melding, which will explain the absence of Amell in the spinoff.

It is important to note, though, that in the comics, Ronnie dies and Stein is given a new Firestorm buddy, Jason Matrix, the character that Franz Drameh might play. This will also instigate Caitlin's Killer Frost transformation.

"The Flash" season 2 will premiere in fall.
