Quickly dispelling rumors that there will still be an installment after "Five Nights at Freddy's 4," series creator Scott Cawthon announced that the next game in the franchise will be a role-playing one. He also stressed that the upcoming "Five Night's at Freddy's World" will not be a direct sequel to the final chapter in the series released last July.
"It will not be a horror game, but a role playing game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions." Cawthon said in an announcement, adding that the game is currently in development. "I've been working steadily on characters and hope to start on enemy models next week."
The creator first mentioned "Five Nights at Freddy's World" during his announcement of the Halloween update for "Five Nights at Freddy's 4," saying that he hoped that by the time Oct. 31 rolls out, he could also showcase his next game. However, since he is targeting a ready-to-play demo, he stressed that he might not make it by Halloween.
He said, "The bad news is that it's unlikely that a demo will be ready for Halloween like I had hoped, since this game's scope is significantly larger than previous games in the series."
He promised, however, that the new game will be previewed as soon as possible, saying, "I will release a free demo, as promised, as soon as it's ready!"
This means that come Oct. 31, the only thing that Scott Games will roll out is the promised Halloween update for "Five Nights at Freddy's 4." Cawthon himself already detailed what the new update will bring to the game, including updating the game to its 1.1 version. The automatic update will also include additional game content for those who have already beaten the sixth night in the game — a new challenge and cheat menus, plus an updated minigame in the challenge modes.
