In this year's Quakecon event, fans have had their share of major updates and surprises, as Bethesda provided other details about their upcoming releases. One of the focus of the presentation was the new installment in the popular "Fallout" franchise, and Bethesda let loose a host of new "Fallout 4" details such as an updated gameplay, new character interactions, and quite possibly, a new and much improved item repair system.
Although the developer has not provided any confirmation if it will introduce a new repair system in "Fallout 4," some observers have pointed out that bits and pieces of details from previous game teasers and footages can give out hints on the new system.
According to Christopher Livingston of tech and gaming site PC Gamer, one glaring fact about the upcoming title's Pip-Boy is that it differs from the equipment seen on the previous "Fallout 3" – there is no CND meter shown on the new Pip-Boy when a character scrolls through their list of weapons. In terms of other items in the inventory, gears such as armor and clothing also don't show the item's health. In addition to the Pip-Boy change, the CND bar is also absent from the T60-B armor showcased in the event, although the gear did have a new health meter.
When confronted about these changes, Bethesda did not give out any details aside from a curious remark from Pete Hines. Hines, the VP of Marketing and PR at Bethesda, just brushed off the observations with a cryptic, "Todd [Howard, game director] said we're not going to go into details about it yet."
Fans noted that the change in some of the designs might signal a new shift in the gameplay itself, and although the company stays mum about any queries, Bethesda is expected to have a new system in place, or at least an upgraded one, for weapons and gear replacement in "Fallout 4."
