An executive from Turtle Rock Studios confirmed that the DLC maps for the soon-to-be released first-person shooter game "Evolve" will be available for download for free.

Phil Robb, the creative director for the game, announced the confirmation through an interview posted on IGN on Nov. 21, and explained the decision to do so.

"First thing we [Evolve's creative leads] said was we can't break the community up, so all of our maps will be free. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven't bought something," Robb said.

The creative director also substantiated that the planned post-release DLC support for "Evolve" will feature hunters, maps, and new monsters. He also said that those who have no plans to buy any hunter or monster DLC can still enjoy playing the combats of the new hunters against new monsters.

"We'll have characters and monsters, and even if you don't buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that's cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase," Robb stated. "So, you won't be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters."

Not all publishers are willing to offer the free option to play against those who purchased the DLC, which is why Turtle Rock's offer might be hard to resist.

Aside from "Evolve," there will be other titles to provide free DLC for gamers, including "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" that will feature 16 pieces of DLC players for free.

"Evolve" is an action-packed multiplayer shooter game where four players with different characteristics will fight against a fifth player who has the tendency to become a monster and kill smaller creatures so that it can evolve and gain extra strength by entering a cocoon stage.

Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games will release the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows edition of "Evolve" on Feb. 10, 2015.
