The latest development in "Dragon Ball Super," the newest anime series depicting Goku's quests and battles, is Norihito Sumitomo hopping on board. Sumitomo will be in charge of the musical score for the show, something not at all new to the 51-year-old.
The composer has lent his talents to several "Dragon Ball" movies such as "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods," which was released in 2013, and "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'," which hit theaters a couple of months back. Here, he was joined by Nintendo video game musician Kenji Yamamoto. Sumitomo's scores also include that of the Majin Buu saga in "Dragon Ball Z Kai."
Being a seasoned composer for the anime, "Dragon Ball Super" will sure get some cool musical scoring from Sumitomo, who personally broke the news about his involvement in the newest series via his blog.
"Dragon Ball Super" is the first anime from the franchise in 18 years. Little is known about the new series although there are hints and clues trickling in from its new website and dedicated Twitter account.
It is said that "Dragon Ball Super" is set after the downfall of Majin Buu, with the world snatching back bit by bit the ever elusive peace it so rightfully deserves and needs. But this worked hard-for amity will be short-lived with a new baddie ready to wreak havoc.
In a Japanese tweet translated by Attack of the Fanboy, it was revealed that Goku and the gang will be up against a "mysterious" new villain who was made more ominous with the mention of Beerus, god of destruction, and Frieza, who was reborn in his most fearsome form in the recent "Dragon Ball" film.
"Dragon Ball Super" will premiere in July. A companion manga for the anime will be out by August via the Shonen V-Jump Magazine.
