Da'T.R.U.T.H. says God was with him through restoration

Da'T.R.U.T.H is back with a brand new album and feeling better than ever.

The Whole Truth came out this week and includes a song that's close to his heart.

"Cherished" is a message to the wife he cheated on to let her know just how much he cherishes her after two difficult years of healing and restoration.

The song takes its title from a novel, also called "Cherished", about a Christian rapper written by Kim Cash Tate which was started before Da'T.R.U.T.H.'s adultery and by sheer coincidence came to parallel much of his life.

In 2009, Da'T.R.U.T.H. announced that he was taking a sabbatical from music and ministry in light of his moral indescretion but adding that he had repented before God and that he hoped his family and fellow Christians would be able to forgive him too.

When Tate read his public statement in its entirety, including how God had shown him the power of forgiveness and restoration, she said, "That's what Cherished is about. That God is a God who redeems and a God who restores."

Da'T.R.U.T.H. had followed the same path as one of Tate's characters by committing adultery. Although he felt hopeless and lifeless, God was not finished with him.

"He totally restored me and provided me with everything I needed. It was a hard, difficult and rough journey and the terrain was rocky, but the Lord was with me," Da'T.R.U.T.H. said.

Over the last two years, he and his wife Nicole have worked through the pain.

Emerging from the darkest time, Da'T.R.U.T.H had felt a stirring to write a song to his wife but hadn't felt that anything he'd come up with was quite right.

Then he read Tate's story and was so touched by it that he decided to write a bonus track, "Cherished", to be included on his album.

Through the song, he wants his wife to know how much she is cherished, and to make it an extra special gift, close friend and mentor Ce Ce Winans sings with him on the track.
