'Dance Moms' season 5 preview: Lawsuits and competition results

For "Dance Moms" fans, the fifth season couldn't come any earlier. There are so many things going on in the new season, even the synopsis and spoilers seem a lot to digest.

First off, the first episode will premiere in January and it is titled "99 Problems but a Mom Ain't One." The synopsis says that the episode focuses on the loss of a dancer and a former student's lawsuit against a coach.

"The ALDC's fifth dance competition season is off to a rocky start when a key member disappears and cuts off all ties with the kids and the moms," the synopsis clearly says.

And while it does not mention any names, it is clear that dancer Chloe Lukasiak is the one being described. Back in season 4, Christi Lukasiak and daughter Chloe decided to stop dancing under Coach Abby. With the dancing competition closing in, Abby relies on a friend to join her team.

According to IBT, this old pal is 14-year-old dancer Kalani Hillker and her mom Kira Girard. That's because they are Abby's picks. In fact, Kalani was already in "Dance Moms" in season 3 and was in "Abby's Ultimate Competition" season 2. Hence, she is no stranger to the elite competition Abby and the team is facing.

The episode also focuses on a former star dancer's lawsuit against Coach Abby. Paige Hyland is suing the ALDC coach and Abby feels horrible about it.

The synopsis reads, "Abby's world comes crashing down when an ex-student threatens legal action and could jeopardize the ALDC's big plans for the season."

Meanwhile, Abby shared her feelings about the lawsuit on the season 5 promo and this is what she had to say: "I just had an officer of the court serve me with papers in my business. Nobody is going to talk to me that way! No one!"

It looks like Abby is fighting back.

As for the competition result spoilers, the ALDC team go to Niagara Falls, New York. They do a contemporary piece on "American Horror Story: Freak Show." Kendall Vertes, Nia Frazer and Kalani each perform a solo.

According to "Dance Moms" spoilers, ALDC is first overall and in the pre-teen division. Kendall ranks first for her solo performance and Nia gets second for her routine. Meanwhile, Kalani bags second place in the teen division.

"Dance Moms" returns for its fifth season on Jan. 6, 2015 on Lifetime.
