Cyanogen OS 12 rolls out for OnePlus One

The long wait is over for folks who have been eagerly awaiting the Cyanogen OS 12 update for the OnePlus One. Until now, there was no telling when it would actually be released, pegged to be seemingly forever under the 'coming soon' tag.

But a blog post from Cyanogen has finally put a halt to all the excitement, announcing that the Cyanogen OS 12 update is now currently being rolled out.

The post came out last April 13, further stating that the said update will come filled with new additions and improvements which are said to be above and beyond the goodness of the famed Android Lollipop. Aside from the release, the blog post likewise bared that an update to the YU Yureka handsets will be following suit.

Among the inclusions for the Cyanogen OS 12 include a Boxer email client which will be the device's default email client. This feature seems to be one of many moves that the company is undertaking as they try to enhance their OS to differ from the usual features that Google has with their recurring Android updates.

The update should provide users a big sigh of relief although it remains to be seen as to how long Cyanogen would be providing the necessary update for OnePlus One users. With their business relationship not exactly the smoothest at the moment, such a question is in the air.

More so, everyone perhaps knows that the company is developing an OS of their own with the OxygenOS. Once that said OS comes out, it should be interesting if it could replace the existing OS of the OnePlus One and future devices.

The logical way is seeing the Oxygen OS used in future devices but as far as existing ones are concerned, it may very well stay under the Cyanogen umbrella.
