'Constantine' season 2 cancelled or renewed? pitch to be presented to NBC

The fate of the demon hunter and occult master Constantine is still up in the air, and NBC has proven it is not a mere open and shut case. But thankfully, fans will soon find out whether or not the DC Comics-inspired series will go for another run full of supernatural and otherworldly quests.

"Constantine" executive producer Daniel Cerone announced that NBC will listen to a season 2 pitch for the comic book adaptation by the end of April. Cerone informed fans via his Twitter account that after that, the network will decide if season 2 is a go.

Despite its freshman run wrapping up back in February, there is still no news about the renewal of "Constantine." All throughout season 1, NBC did not pick it up for a new season, which usually suggests that the show will no longer go further.

Ratings were a hit and miss (but mostly miss) but the fan base for "Constantine" that managed to form during its short 13-episode run is not deterred by the suggestive cessation of their dearly loved series. According to Cinema Blend, the failure of "Constantine" to rake in commendable ratings is partly due to its tough Friday night timeslot. But it noted that despite that, the superhero series scooped up an audience larger than what the last season of "Dracula" had.

Furthermore, "Constantine" fits quite nicely in the Friday night line-up. With "Grimm" being a part of that line-up, the series assimilates in the creepy theme. But at the end of the day, NBC has the last call. For now, it is enough to know that the network has his options open.

in the meantime, there is the ever-taxing waiting game. It remains to be seen if John Constantine's story will continue to be told, and fans are likely hoping at the moment that the pitch will be mega-awesome that NBC will only be left nodding to it over and over.

In the event the network likes the pitch, fans can expect an all-new season of "Constantine" in October.
