A new episode of "Castle" season 8 won't air until Nov. 9 but viewers are promised an exciting and action-packed installment at the end of the longer than usual wait. Titled "Cool Boys," the brand new episode marks the return of Detective Slaughter.

Alec Baldwin reprises his role here, which means that Castle might be on to something big. As the synopsis teases, "the stakes couldn't be higher" in a robbery case that brought Slaughter back in the first place. The detective enlists the help of Castle to get to the bottom of the issue.

As the mystery of this high-stakes case slowly unfolds in the "Castle" season 8 episode, murder ensues and the suspicion and accusations easily become directed to Slaughter. Now, Castle wrestles with helping Slaughter clear his name and proving that he really is involved with the case.

Slaughter once endangered the life of Castle so it is hard to imagine him opting to do the former. Last time he chose to entangle himself with his mess, Castle nearly got killed. He swore not to be involved with Slaughter again but here he is, finding himself in a place he vowed not to return to.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that in this particular "Castle" season 8 episode, Stana Katic aka Beckett will be absent and it will be made to look like she attended "a meeting for a couple of days, at a work-related function."

When the installment was filmed, Katic was out of town. Showrunner Alexi Hawley told TV Line that her nonattendance will be written in the episode as her character doing "real work, not secret work" with regards to the LokSat mystery.

Apart from Baldwin back in the field, fans can also look forward to the coming of another character in the person of Kristoffer Polaha, whose role remains to be a secret.

"Castle" season 8 episode 6 "Cool Boys" airs Nov. 9 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
