'Castle' season 8 renewed or cancelled on ABC? Stana Katic grateful to be 'part of the ride'

The fate of ABC TV show "Castle" hangs in the balance as there is no certainty whether the show will be renewed for another season or not. The series is currently showing its seventh season, and with the finale drawing closer, fans are getting desperate to know about the future of the show.

As of the moment, ABC has not made any statement regarding its cancellation or renewal. However, actress Stana Katic, who plays Kate Beckett, tweeted a somewhat ominous statement regarding the future of "Castle."

"7. Proud of all we've accomplished. Grateful 4 being part of the ride," Katic tweeted

Her Twitter followers and "Castle" fans were surprised to read what she just tweeted, and immediately reacted. Fans felt sad that the upcoming season finale could be the series finale. However, Katic didn't follow up on her tweet and left fans more confused than ever.

On November 2014, Katic aired her sentiments and opinion about the show going on for another season. She believes that there's no point in continuing the show if there's no more story to tell.

"If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top, because I admire the way that they did that with 'The Wire,' you know?" she told TVLine. "Tell a great story and then go home and move onto something else. Don't milk it just because."

She also said that it is "art over finance" for her. If the writers still have something compelling to write, they can still go on. But if there isn't, "it's time for everyone to pack up and move onto the next thing," Katic said.

The actress also shared that she feels so lucky playing Beckett and that she's happy wherever the character is going at the end of the series.

"I'm just happy that I got to be one of the cogs in the machine that created this show and was a part of its success in some small way. So that makes me happy, whatever happens," she shared.

The next episode of "Castle" will air on March 17.
