Canon 5DS rumors: Photos of new Canon DSLR camera leaked

Canon is expected to come out with a new DSLR camera soon and it could be the Canon 5DS. Leaked photos cropped up recently from Digicame-info via Canon Watch and the new camera is said to be coming out in two variants.

Apparently after the shelving of the Canon 5D MKII and seeing the release of the Canon 5D MK III, it is high time that a new DSLR variant should come out. And if rumors are true and the photos leaked are authentic, Canon will have a new offering for the photography buffs soon.

While there is no confirmation on whether this will indeed by Canon's offer just yet, specs for the leaked camera are very impressive.

Among the specs of the supposed Canon 5DS include a 50.6 MP full-frame CMOS sensor that will be packed in a body made of magnesium alloy. This means that the camera should be well-protected from rugged environments which should gain the approval of photographers who bring along their cameras in the outdoors.

Further specs of the said camera include a DIGIC6 processor and a 61-point AF. The said camera will be able to continuously shoot at 5 frames per second and will have video recording capability.

Here are the rest of the technical specifications:

  • 5DS R is without low-pass filter
  • Regular sensitivity ISO 100-6400
  • EOS iTR AF
  • 150,000 pixel RGB + IR photometry sensor
  • Added "fine detail" to the Picture Style
  • 1.3x and 1.6x crop shooting mode
  • Customizable "Quick Control Screen"
  • Time-lapse movie
  • Anti-flicker
  • Interval Timer
  • Bulb timer

At first glance, the camera seems like any common DSLR you can find in the market. However, it would be the photographers themselves who could pass judgment on what improvements the Canon 5DS will have to offer.

Other than the chance to upgrade or get a DSLR for the first time, it would be best to consider this one once Canon does confirm that it is the Canon 5DS set to come out soon. No rumors though on how much this professional camera would cost.
