Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight: Jerry Jones wants fight blockbuster at AT&T Stadium

The mandatory bout that the World Boxing Council (WBC) wants to happen has yet to render positive results but just in case, there is one man who is ready to offer the perfect spot should both camps reach an agreement.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has come into the picture, saying via TMZ that he is ready to play host for the fight if it materializes.

This has something to do with the much awaited tiff involving WBC middleweight champion Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin, something that could possibly take place later this year.

For now, nothing has been set on stone. Both will be taking on separate opponents in the coming months before negotiations between both camps resume.

Golovkin will be the first to take the ring this April where he will face Dominic Wade. After a couple of weeks, it will be Alvarez taking on his voluntary match against Briton Amir Khan.

After those fights and assuming they both come out as victors, the rough part of trying to get the two sides to agree will likely start.

Right now, there is still one glaring issue on hand. This is with regards to the 155 pounds catch weight clause that Alvarez wants to add as a stipulation.

Golovkin has already said before that he doesn't intend to honor that and prefers to have the bout at the full weight limit of 160 pounds. The WBC is also not expected to honor the Mexican's stipulation which is the glaring problem that could hinder the mega fight from happening.

Alvarez and company have reiterated that they do not intend to fight if it will not be at 155 pounds and this is where the tricky part comes in.

Either way, Jones is likely to keep tabs of the situation and likely to pitch that Dallas Cowboys Stadium when everything has been ironed out.

Aside from the AT&T Stadium, other rumored venues include the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas and Madison Square Garden in New York City.
