Campaign for Christian Heritage to be included in the EU Constitution

It has been put forward that inserting a reference into the EU Costitution regarding Europe's Christian heritage could be difficult.

Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern on a visit to Malta said that he did not see any possibility of compromise to include Europe's Christian heritage in the constitution at this stage.

Many Christian groups have been lobbying actively to insert a reference about Europe's Christian heritage into the constitution after the draft EU constitution was published last year. Much discussion has been made on the subject so far, and the deadline for issuing Europe's constitution is at the next IGC. The conclusion is still not entirely certain at this stage, but many continue to wait in hope.
