"The Blacklist" season 3 will see Liz and Red as fugitives. According to Entertainment Weekly, this won't simply entail "fun private flights" as some would think. According to the site, the duo are still in the country and they have to deal with all sorts of problems before making it to relative safety.
The duo won't be together all the time as they will have to split up, at least for a short time. A little separation will prove vital for the two to get past Liz's own team and all of the biggest agencies in D.C. that will join forces to get a hold of them. Indeed, this won't be a walk in the park.
Meanwhile, Hisham Tawfiq, who plays Dembe Zuma in the series, was promoted to series regular in season 3. In order to fully prepare for the bigger commitment, he has to give up his second job down at the Fire Department City of New York station.
The actor, who is starting to get noticed in Hollywood, has been a chief of the local station for 20 years now. He is, indeed, a very busy man but now that his role in the series has become larger, juggling his careers that are poles apart will be much harder. This is why he's retiring from fire-fighting.
"I still love it and enjoy driving a firetruck, especially up in Harlem and seeing people I know, getting little kids to jump on it," Tawfiq said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "That's why it's so hard to retire, because I still enjoy working and especially serving the community of Harlem where I grew up. It's a very hard thing to let go."
The actor then revealed how he ended up dropping his long-time gig.
"When Blacklist came, the way it's worked has been kind of magical as far as being off when I needed to be off and being able to squeeze the hours in. It's been exhausting," Tawfiq revealed. "I didn't want to go into the third season doing that, but knew there was no other way to do it. It was my passion so I made it work."
During the chat, he also revealed that he will mix fire-fighting with Hollywood by working on a documentary about African-American firefighters.
Fans will see more of "The Blacklist" when it returns for its third season on Sept. 24.
