Building the hype for its first-ever Android-run smartphone, BlackBerry had opened pre-registration for the Priv. According to a post on the company's blog, fans who can't wait to see how the BlackBerry Priv looks and feels can sign up for the latest updates on a pre-registration page. Subscribers to the updates will get first-hand information about the device, leading up to the unveiling and announcements on when and where the Priv will be released.
Meanwhile, with the announcement of the pre-registration for Priv updates, BlackBerry also listed some confirmed details about the upcoming device.
Leaks and previous rumors have long established that the Priv will feature a slide-out keyboard. BlackBerry has confirmed it, and in a recent interview with BlackBerry CEO John Chen, one of the highlights was the tech behind the keyboard. The slider feature for the Priv is called SmartSlide. Surprisingly, aside from the input interface of the keys for the slide-out physical keyboard, the SmartSlide can also double as a touchscreen. This feature allows Priv users to both type and navigate at the same time without using the main display.
Aside from the SmartSlide tech, another confirmed feature for the BlackBerry Priv is its bigger-than-average power run. According to TechRadar, the BlackBerry Priv will come out with a "long-lasting" 3410-mAh battery.
However, since there are still no benchmark tests available, there is no information on how the battery affects the standby and usage times for the device.
In addition, there is still no confirmed information about the other hardware specs of the Priv.
