'Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Whose wedding will fans see first?

 CBS

Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" who came to be shippers of their favorite nerdy love teams have to wait until season 9 of the long-running CBS sitcom to know what's next for Amy and Sheldon and even Penny and Leonard, whose relationships were highlighted in the season 8 finale.

It is still unknown what will become of Sheldon and Amy's relationship, which the latter ended with the thought of Sheldon's unwillingness to take things to the next level. Executive producer Steve Molaro won't give any clues either, so fans are left to wonder and guess.

One Reddit user suggested that the breakup is not the one to worry about; it's Sheldon's mom. The user said that the preliminary episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will show the two reuniting only to be separated again by Mrs. Cooper. This idea was either slammed or supported by other Reddit users.

It will be an interesting premise, though. Amy always wanted to see Sheldon taking her seriously and fighting for her, and proving their love to his mother would be the ultimate showing.

Although fans want to see them reunite, others think an instant reconciliation is unlikely. According to reports, with viewers itching to know whether or not Sheldon and Amy would work things out, it seems that this will be given more focus come season 9 of the show.

Meanwhile, Leonard and Penny's marriage is now up in the air. As the couple headed to Las Vegas to exchange their "I dos," the former felt that he needed to make a clean breast of the time he kissed another girl when he was away.

It is unclear what the "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 holds for the pair but it is rumored that the wedding might be called off and Penny may change her mind about marrying Leonard. This raises the question of which couple will actually get hitched.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will premiere in September.
