After a great season starter full of romance and action, "Beauty and the Beast" season 3 continues with episode 2 titled "Primal Fear." In this installment, Cat and Vincent look into "a shocking new lead" on the superhuman experiments being done on innocent people. This happens as they struggle with their desire to have a normal relationship and still protect the city from hostile forces that only the likes of them can face.
Talking to IGN, Kristin Kreuk, who plays the role of Cat, revealed that Vincent's and her character's incompatible aspirations for the city and their relationship will complicate things but not enough to destroy it altogether. The two are "together and happy."
"There seems to be another threat in the world and Catherine wants to go out and fight it. She believes it's their responsibility and their destiny to do so. Vincent just wants to be a couple, be a doctor, hang out at home, doesn't want to deal with it," Kreuk explained. "So they're in that kind of conflict but it's also propelling their relationship forward at the same time. And they've got to try to make their 'normal' relationship work in the context of what's going on."
Vincent, on the other hand, may soon realize that the life he wanted for so long is not as exciting as he expected. Just like how quick his lady love reverted to her old self when a new threat reeled in, Vincent will not be able to catch up but will also get there soon.
"He soon realizes that the people who are around him, the ones he has been the protector of in a way, are feeling a little empty without this excitement and risk in their lives," Jay Ryan, who plays Vincent, told TV Line. "Everyone's in this slump while Vincent is on the up, and once he stops for a minute to marvel at the glory of his new life, he sees that everyone else is a bit off. He realizes that he has to fulfill who he is and his current purpose — and that is to protect."
"Beauty and the Beast" season 3 episode 2 titled "Primal Fear" will air on June 18.
