'Beauty and the Beast' season 3 premiere spoilers: Cat's secret bound to strain relationship with Vincent

Vincent and Cat The CW

The last time "Beauty and the Beast" fans saw Cat and Vincent, the couple was seemingly headed to a beautiful future after being separated from each other. No more monsters to deal with and no more danger to fear, or so it seems. Season 3 of the epic The CW drama will delve into the romance between the detective and the wolf and all the trials they will face together.

"The design last year was to break them apart for a while to try to establish separate characters and to build the separate characters and to bring them back together stronger," executive producer Brad Kern told The Hollywood Reporter. "The goal now is to try and focus on the Cat and Vincent love and challenge it to help them grow as a couple, as opposed to try to break them apart."

But that does not mean that Cat and Vincent are off to drive into the sunset. "Beauty and the Beast" season 3 will bring a new threat to their relationship and star Kristen Kreuk, who plays the role of the smitten intelligent police officer in the series, has a lot to say on how that will progress.

"Catherine has been secretly talking with the DHS, the agents that came to talk to them at the end of last season," Kreuk revealed to TV Fanatic . "They're trying to enroll her in helping them with this beast-like threat ... She tries to bring Vincent in, and Vincent doesn't want to have anything to do with it. They have this back and forth between her believing that they have a greater purpose and him believing they don't, and that they should just be happy and live together and forget all that other stuff."

Fortunately, this won't do much to ruin their relationship, which Kreuk described, is solid. However, it will definitely court conflict, which is what Kern probably meant about challenging Cat and Vincent's love for each other.

In addition, the description for "Beauty and the Beast" season 3 shows that Kreuk's shocking revelation is not the only thing to worry about. Apparently, Vincent will have to call upon his inner beast so as to defeat a threat that uses people as lab rats. Defeating this big new adversary comes with a very hefty price — his relationship with Cat.

"Beauty and the Beast" season 3 will premiere on June 11. It was delayed by The CW, which initially scheduled the premiere of the series for May 21.
