"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is so near yet so far, and so spoilers about basically anything about the much-awaited DC film are very much subject to massive excitement and scrutiny. The latest bits that emerged are about the costumes of the superheroes in the film.
According to Cinema Blend, it took a whole year to put together the respective costumes of the Man of Steel, the Caped Crusader and even Wonder Woman. Superman's garb, in particular, had costume designer Michael Wilkinson and his team working around the clock just to reproduce the exact same alien fiber his costume is known for.
But in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," fans will notice some changes in the iconic emblem the Kryptonian proudly wears on his chest. A slight tweak to the belt also had to be done to perfect the costume star Henry Cavill wears in the film. But the most special part of the costume is the set of Kryptonian script tucked in the suit – script inspired by film director Zack Snyder.
In an episode of DC All Access, Wilkinson revealed the story behind this important finish on the costume. Snyder "gave me this fantastic quote that he wanted us to translate into Krypton, and incorporate into the script. It sort of deals with the nature of power and responsibility. That comes with power."
As for the Dark Knight's get-up in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Snyder wanted something that will make the hero "hulking" to subtly deliver the message of Bruce Wayne's major role in the movie. Wilkinson stated that Snyder wanted Batman to look bigger than his foe in the film.
Lastly, for Wonder Woman's costume, Wilkinson worked on showing both the elegance and the strength of the Amazonian community the heroine belongs to.
All three costumes are on display at the New York Comic Con. Fans will find newly introduced action figures of Batman and Lex Luthor in there too. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" comes out on March 25, 2016.
