Baby Jasleen, Germany's biggest baby ever, has been born at a whopping 13 pounds and 4 ounces on July 26.

Jasleen's mother, who gave birth to her 22.4 inch long baby naturally at the University Hospital in Leipzig, had suffered from gestational diabetes, which commonly leads to heavy birth weight in babies.

The unnamed mother was not diagnosed with the condition throughout her pregnancy, and doctors only found out that she suffered from it when she arrived at hospital to give birth.

Both mother and baby did not suffer any major complications during the birth and they remain at the hospital in good health.

Signs of gestational diabetes normally show up around the 24th week of pregnancy and is known to lead to very big babies.

In May this year, a mother in England gave birth to her son George weighing 15 pounds and 7 ounces. Jade King gave birth naturally, but the baby's shoulders got temporarily stuck in the birth canal, requiring oxygen for five minutes. He was the second biggest baby born vaginally in England.

The biggest baby ever was born in 1979 in Ohio, according to the Guinness World Records. Ann Bates gave birth to a baby weighing a whopping 23 pounds, 12 ounces. However, the baby died within 24 hours of birth.

Another baby weighing 22 pounds and 9 ounces was born in Italy in 1955 and survived.
